Record Audio and Video

The AirKnight-HD series offers single, dual, and quad-channel recording options, providing flexibility for a variety of applications. Each version includes options for bottom mounting, side mounting, or Dzus rail mounting, with an available GPS option across all models.

The AirKnight HD4Sa allows you to record one or two channels as separate video files to SD or USB media. You can add up to four cameras and switch between them using the Director Video Switcher. Compatible with a range of cameras, including HD-SDI, HDMI, and CVBS PAL/NTSC cameras, as well as Datatoys’ HD bullet cameras.

Data Recording and Overlay

With the optional GPS, you can record and overlay geospatial data, such as time, latitude, longitude, altitude, heading, and speed. This feature is compatible with a variety of GPS receivers, including the Garmin 18x 5Hz or 1Hz GPS receiver, or you can connect to most standard GPS units via RS-232.

• GPS Data Recording: Data is recorded in KML and GPX formats, which can be viewed in Google Earth or synchronized with video using the included FlightSync software. Compatible with most third-party geospatial applications.
• Overlay GPS Data: In addition to the data file, you can overlay GPS data and text onto the video. Through a web user interface, you can customize the position, font size, and color of each data point, with sizes ranging from 8pt to 40pt.

Overlay Custom Text (Character Generator)

The built-in high-definition character generator allows custom text overlays on the video. You can enter the text through the web interface or send real-time information via RS-232. Up to three independent lines of text can be customized for font, size, color, and position.

Record to USB or SD Media

Record video directly to USB or SD cards, making the downloading process simple with no need for proprietary memory cards. This is ideal for flight tours, where you can provide customers with immediate video copies on USB flash drives.

USB Replicating System: For helicopter tours with multiple groups, Datatoys offers a USB replicating system to duplicate videos quickly, making it easy to provide customers with their flight footage on the spot.

Record Headset Audio

Capture the complete experience by recording headset audio during the flight. The included Aviation Headset Cable connects to any GA headset on the market, with U174 helicopter headset cables available as an option.

High Quality, Small Files

Using AVC/H.264 High Profile compression similar to Blu-Ray technology, the AirKnight recorders provide the highest quality video with maximum efficiency. File sizes remain manageable, making them easy to store, edit, and upload. The AirKnight-HD records in the optimal “sweet spot,” balancing quality and file size.

• Bit Rates between 8Mb/s and 16Mb/s ensure maximum quality without wasting storage space. The system also supports MJPEG compression with data rates up to 50Mb/s, ideal for production film applications.

Sync Time and Overlay

The system can synchronize time with an NTP server and overlay it on the video, making it perfect for flight testing.

Control

The Record Stop/Start Switch allows for easy recording control, trimming down post-flight editing time. The LED indicator provides visual confirmation of power and recording status.

The AirKnight-HD2 can be wired to record each channel independently or simultaneously, offering maximum flexibility.

Network User Interface

Advanced settings can be accessed through the network user interface, including options for:

• CBR and VBR
• H.264 AVC and MJPEG Compression
• Bit Rates, GOP Size, Video Down-scaling, Pre and Post Alarms
• Live Streaming, Custom Text Overlay, Audio Gain Control
• Overwrite When Full (Yes/No)

Connect

The AirKnight connects to HD-SDI, HDMI, or NTSC/PAL cameras, supporting resolutions up to 1080p60. BNC HD-SDI connectors make connecting to a Gimbal camera system easy and secure.

• Note: HDMI does not support protected content.

The HD Mini Bullet camera is waterproof and offers 1080p resolution with automatic adjustments. Its rugged, compact design makes it ideal for both interior and exterior mounting.
